Day thirteen - Yosemite

Breakfast in Bishop.

The hotel rate included breakfast which was very nice. So after taking our fill we headed off for Yosemite. On the way we passed the most beautiful scenery - the weather continued to be stunning if a little cooler than Vegas and Death Valley.  We stopped en route at Mono Lake although their visitor centre was closed Mondays to Wednesdays (this was Tuesday). Lots of lovely views and photos then off to Yosemite. The views on the road leading there were stunning and then we paid at the entrance of the park proper. The Tioga Pass road was open - no sign of snow at all yet although I could see how a modest covering would just render this road impassable. We headed for Yosemite Valley and were not disappointed with the spectacular scenery.

We stopped in the Valley and bought sandwiches for lunch before taking the shuttle bus around the valley, stopping for a walk to the falls - which were dry at this time of year. You could only imagine how beautiful these would be in Springtime.

We headed back to Bishop around 5 and managed to arrive at a fabulous viewpoint just as the sun was setting. There were a number of photographers out with tripods taking pictures of Half Dome - which we did too.

Sunset in Yosemite was beautiful.

We arrived back at Bishop around 7 and got ready to go out again. We tried the local bowling alley since it was right next door and was a lot friendlier - if rather downbeat and rough. I had some food there, Maurice was not that hungry and ended up having his spare sandwich from lunch later on.

Another amazing day had passed.
