We had a good night's sleep and got up around 8.
Cilla had arranged for us to visit her Aunt Ruth in Larchmont and her cousin Alison too. Her Aunt has been recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma so is really very poorly as she is 90 years old. But she is remarkably upbeat which is humbling.
We went to the Westchester Mall after we left Larchmont and did a spot of shopping. I kept getting bargains which was helpful! We had some lunch and then went back to the hotel and rested till evening. After a bath and all the preparations, we set off for the reunion.
The venue was Molly Spillane's in Mamaroneck and we had a private room at the top of the building. The evening was spent socialising and talking to lots of people who needed to be prompted a bit to remember me. Some remembered me straight away. It was great fun. There were a couple of surprises on the night. Two other couples were staying in the same hotel and had met another AFS student that night. It turned out that Mamaroneck HS were having their reunion the same evening and the AFS student that was placed there made the trip from France, none other than Frank- Eric Martin whom I knew well in 72-73. He was staying at the same hotel. When we left the party I went to reception and phoned up to Frank's room. He came down and we sat and chatted for half an hour or so. Very strange. But not the only strange thing that happened!
