Off to Vegas!
Only there was a BART strike so it meant a mammoth taxi run, and a huge fare, to get to the airport. The taxi was driven by a very scary guy who was very eccentric - he had on a really tatty racket and beanie hat - even though it was lovely and warm. He was a bit like a hobo.
Eventually we got to SFO and got checked in for our flight. With time to spare we had breakfast - me a traditional breakfast sandwich, Maurice - noodles which is usual, for him while travelling.
The flight was uneventful, we arrived in Vegas and got a taxi to our hotel. We had a massive suite, complete with separate bedroom and living area, 2 tvs, full kitchen including dishwasher. This will do for 3 nights for sure!
After freshening up, we ventured up to Walgreens for a few necessities and then found our way to the bars. The Harley Cafe was a bit dead so we looked around a bit. Twin Peaks on the corner was soon Maurice's favourite for obvious reasons. A full climbing wall in the bar provides some interesting side entertainment. We went back to our hotel for a freshen up and then came out again to the Rock Bar this time, sitting outside for a few drinks and something to eat. Maurice had a massive chilli dog which was far too large.
Home early and in bed by 11. Ridiculous really but we are old! First day in Vegas over already.
