Arriving at ABZ full of excitement and anticipation for my trip, I got through security quickly and was soon having a coffee and waiting to board.
The plane was lovely, great seats and not even half full. Then - oh no - delay due to an overshot landing by an air ambulance. Then we hear the delay could be 2 hours! Eventually Virgin realise that the turn around at LHR is not going to happen so we all disembark and await the next news. Which is that we are going to be checked on to the 17.35 and a long wait for our connections starts. There's no point getting annoyed or angry about it, just one of those things. I hear that I'll be on the 20.30 to Newark so at least I'll get to US today.I meet some interesting fellow travellers and hear of others in worse or better situations. There are a few of us all going on the same connections too. I decide to book a hotel in Newark rather than try getting to Rye. And book the Wyndham Garden. All flights and connections from ABZ are absolutely fine - albeit the 17.35 is much busier than it would normally have been. The Newark flight is half full with plenty space to stretch out and relax. The food is good and the staff excellent. I will travel Virgin again for sure. Once at Newark, no lines at border control and my baggage arrives promptly! A win! I get the shuttle to the hotel and crash. A very long day but hey ho, I'm here!
